Communities
We believe in sharing the benefits of the green energy transformation with the communities where we operate. We also want communities to have a real say in how Stromar is developed.
Stromar plans to lead the way in bringing community ownership to offshore wind. We are already working with community ownership experts Energy4All, building on their 15-year track record in establishing cooperatives at seven of Nadara’s onshore wind farms in Scotland.
Ørsted has a long history of working with communities to ensure they benefit from renewable energy projects. In the Humber region, Ørsted has invested more than £45 million directly into local community, education, and skills development through grants, donations and sponsorships.
Nadara has been at the forefront of developing community ownership schemes in onshore wind. Along with its innovative co-operatives, since 2009 it has also operated one of Scotland’s first community ownership schemes for a commercial wind farm at Earlsburn near Stirling.
